Our client recognised that there was a need to align IM to new Business drivers. Using an iterative process of consultation with IM and business staff, services, processes, standards, roles and tools were identified that enabled IM to meet business needs

 

Background

A Current State Assessment of both technical and commercial IM in offices in the UK and overseas was performed. This Assessment revealed:

Ineffectiveness – Decisions were based on insufficient information, cycle times were long and opportunities were missed

Inefficiencies – Multiple systems and processes were used to find related information. Often, key data could not be found, the reliability of data was suspect and there was little recognition of responsibilities and accountabilities of staff concerning IM.

 

Outcome

Through the creation of a strategy and road map Venture was able to design a methodology for delivering an IM solution:

Using an iterative process of consultation with IM and business staff, services, processes, standards, roles and tools were identified that would enable IM to deliver to the business needs.

An important part of this process was to identify quick wins that created visible improvement to user satisfaction. Similarly to make early impact, incremental solutions were implemented that were consistent with the overall strategic plan.

Whilst a generic implementation strategy was established, a flexible approach was adopted to the needs of individual teams both in terms of timing and in terms of focus.

Our use of a ‘strategy to task alignment process’ meant that the project created a very strong communication tool to explain the vision for IM and how we were going to achieve it. It also demonstrated that continuous review of business operational factors enabled the current business needs to be incorporated, leading to re-alignment of work to bring quick effective wins to the Business.

In addition to creating an IM infrastructure that removes the pains of the past and looks to the future, Venture is providing resources to form part of an on-going mixed client / Venture service team.
